A quiet post shared just hours before a deadly fire in Minnesota is now drawing intense attention. What once felt like an ordinary moment is now seen as a final glimpse before tragedy struck.
An early morning fire in a residential neighborhood in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, has left the community mourning a devastating loss.
A clearer picture has since emerged of what happened and the hours leading up to it. Tributes followed after the identity of the adult victim was confirmed.

According to a statement released by the White Bear Lake Fire Department, crews responded to a residential fire at approximately 5:26 a.m. on March 21, 2026, in the 2100 block of Richard Avenue in White Bear Lake.
Neighbors called 911 after seeing flames coming through the roof and reported that multiple people were inside. When firefighters arrived, they encountered a fully involved structure fire and began suppression efforts.
Inside the home, responders located one adult, three children, and a dog, all of whom were pronounced deceased at the scene. The Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
In a follow-up message, officials acknowledged the emotional toll, stating, “It is a very difficult and sad day for our community. We will provide updates when it is appropriate. Our main focus at this time is on everyone affected by this tragedy.”
But the full picture of what happened was still unfolding.
The identity of the victims later added another layer to the tragedy. The National Hockey League confirmed that the adult victim was Jessi Pierce, 37.
Pierce spent the past 10 seasons covering hockey and was a familiar presence at Minnesota Wild games. Often wrapped in a blanket to keep warm in the press box at Grand Casino Arena, she was known for greeting others with a smile and checking in, whether she had seen them earlier that day or years before.
That revelation also brought renewed focus to two pictures shared just hours before the fire.
A post shared on X on March 20 shows a line of people gathered outside Cup and Cone for its seasonal opening. The image captures families waiting along the sidewalk, offering a glimpse into a calm, everyday moment.
An additional update from the same platform shows three children sitting together outdoors, smiling and eating, while another image captures one of them taking a bite of a sandwich, highlighting a casual and joyful moment.
But those final moments were soon followed by deeply personal reflections from those who knew her best.
The tragedy has also been felt deeply within the hockey community. In a heartfelt message shared on X, hockey writer Michael Russo reflected on Pierce’s impact, describing her as a vibrant presence whose energy and passion touched everyone around her.
He highlighted not only her love for hockey and her work, but also her devotion as a mother to her children, Hudson, Cayden, and Avery. He recalled how she created joyful moments for them, including a recent outing that underscored her deep connection with her family.
Russo also acknowledged the personal loss suffered by her husband, Mike Hinrichs, writing, “My heart breaks for Mike for the loss of his wife and children and Jessi’s family, friends and colleagues for this unimaginable loss.”
He added, “Please keep Jessi and her beautiful kids in your thoughts and prayers. I wish Mike all the peace and support and happiness in the world.”
The message reflects the profound grief felt not only by those closest to her, but across the wider hockey community.
